Hello Mary Pat,
We are very saddened to hear the news. My wife Daina and I are old friends of the Gray’s and spoke with Gretchen at length yesterday. Thank you for taking the lead at her time of need. Although we are unable to attend the service I wanted to offer a few words of appreciation for a man who had a great impact on many lives including my own.
I met Paul and Gretchen Gray in the early 1980’s at one of his first Film Seminars in Los Angeles. Paul made an indelible impression on me and soon thereafter, I had the opportunity to work with him and Gretchen to produce the seminars. We worked together throughout the 80’s and early 90’s culminating with the production of his fine, award-winning short film, “Starfish”. Over those years Paul and Gretchen became the dearest of friends and my wife and I have many lovely memories of our times spent together. Whether a conversation about the latest films or classic movies, his Mets or my Yankees, Paul was the raconteur with a pertinent tale to tell.
Paul was a Renaissance Man, a man of many passions and much knowledge, a tireless worker, father and husband, and an optimist. Always ready to lighten the day with a joke or one of his patented puns, the twinkle in his eye ever-present.
He was dedicated to his work, writing, creating and teaching others. Sharing his passion for film and story, his spirit was infectious and will live on in the thousands of people he touched throughout his long, extraordinary life.
He will always be in our hearts!
